Design Philosophy
Our Architecture and Design Studio is located in Kuala Lumpur. We do specialist work for special people. We focus our work on ideas and concepts that deny architecture classification, we deny stylistic approach to the design development process thereby encouraging proto-typing and exploration at all levels of our work. We do away with mainstream typology in buildings. We prescribe artistic direction for each project to suit the particular brief. Contrary to what we all tend to believe, good architecture for us is devoid of style, or creed. ZLG does not condone to specific given mainstream flavour of the month, instead we prefer to embrace whatever promising design possibility or solution that results from our pre-defined methodology and processes.
For us there can be also no demarcation between architecture that is for the outside or that which we define as interior design. Building typology which limits classification of building according to types may no longer hold ground for our work, rather we hold buildings as an anonymous realm, differentiated perhaps only by its reasons for having first been created. All design must stir one's emotion, or move the spirit. Minimal design can be warm and complex spaces can exhibit simplistic yet powerful ideas. Nothing needs to be mutually exclusive if the resulting design solution meets our criteria for quality, value and timely execution.
